Brake noise

Why are my Brakes Making a Noise?

One of the most important vehicle systems! Your entire brake system needs to be checked every year including brake linings, rotors and drums. Whether you step on the brake and you hear a squeal or the noise goes away, these are indicators that your breaks need a service. If you wait too long for repairs you could actually be doing more damage.

We all depend on our cars every day of our lives, driving to and from work, getting around Vancouver in all sorts of terrain and road conditions. Many of us live in hilly areas around the North Shore and find ourselves going through brakes a lot! By their very nature, brake pads and shoes (the friction parts), are replaceable. That is, they are designed for self-destruction, and with this comes wear and dust. While brake part wear is inevitable and expected, there are ways to moderate the damage.

One way to reduce the wear and tear is to convert to ceramic brake pads. Your driving habits and destination will be the factors that are considered when choosing the best brake parts for your vehicle.

Lesson here: Have ceramic fibre disc brake pads installed on your next visit. Ask your service advisor for options of the many brands and price points on the market today that’s best for you.
