Tow truck to repair shop

Tow Truck to Repair shop – one follows the other

In a complex world of cars, trucks and mechanical repairs we like to keep it simple. We tow it, we fix it, we get it back on the road.

I just had the pleasure of reading a customer comment on our business and was happy to learn our customer shared “Curt, Pat, and all the staff are absolutely committed to keeping small businesses moving! I called when my work truck broke down on a site in North Van. They sent one of their tow trucks up to pick it up and had it back to me a few days later good as new! Definitely will be using these guys again for any repairs my company needs.”

This is a key gauge for us on how well we are doing. Comments like this are why we do what we do and proud to do it!

Need to understand the process of Tow Truck to Repair shop? Read these few tips for the best ways of communicating your needs from calling a tow truck to contacting a repair shop.

Tips for calling a Tow Truck:

  1. Be prepared with your exact location, vehicle make and model, colour and license plate, and what the problem is – Depending on where you are, the dispatcher at the other end of the line will generally ask for this information and give you an estimated time that a tow truck will be able to arrive.
  2. Decide the address of where you want your vehicle towed before you make the call – If possible, contact your local auto shop and let them know your situation so they can expect you.
  3. Keys! – If you are not staying with your vehicle, make sure to let the towing company know you plan to leave your key in a spot that is easy to find, such as under the driver’s side floor mat. Don’t lock it, unless you plan to leave the key near the gas cap or somewhere else outside the vehicle.
  4. Hazard Lights – unless your blocking traffic or in a dark spot where drivers could potentially hit the vehicle, you don’t want to leave the hazard lights on as it will just drain your battery.

Tips for finding a Repair Shop:

  1. Go to one recommended by friends or family – build a good relationship with your repair shop so they get to know you and your vehicle. You can trust their recommendations and feel good about taking your business there.
  2. ‘Hands on’ estimates are best– expect an estimate after your mechanic has inspected your vehicle. Over the phone estimates are not accurate as an experienced mechanic will tell you; they need to see what they’re dealing with to be able to offer the correct repairs, and price out the parts needed to do the job.
  3. Find your repair shop and keep it – have a look at your vehicles’ recommended maintenance schedule for timing on repairs. Call to set up an oil change appointment, in many cases these appointments will indicate if there’s any major repairs needed, and if not your vehicle will have clean oil, filters and lubricants along with an all points inspection!

Take away: be prepared when calling a tow truck and be sure to use a licensed mechanic that you feel comfortable with.
